An event is missing from the log #
Check these things:
- Is the action on? Go to
User Activity → Events. Find the action and check that its switch is on. The Recommended preset leaves out some small changes. - Is it excluded? Go to
User Activity → Settings → Exclude Settings. Check users, roles, IP addresses, post types and Exclude Cron Requests. - Is the other plugin supported? Pastmark records other plugins only when it has an integration for them. Read Other plugin integrations.
- Was it deleted? Old events are deleted after 3 months by default. Read General settings and auto-delete.
- Is your filter still on? Pastmark remembers your filters. Click Clear All above the log.
The user shows as “System” #
System means nobody was logged in when it happened. Failed logins are a common example.
The IP address looks wrong #
Pastmark reads the IP address from what your server receives. If your site uses a proxy or a CDN, you may see the proxy’s address.
An IP address can be faked by the visitor. Use it as a hint, not as proof.
I don’t get the email reports #
- Click Send Test Email in
User Activity → Settings → Email Reports. - Check your spam folder.
- If no email arrives, your site cannot send emails well. Install an SMTP plugin.

Does Pastmark slow down my site? #
Pastmark saves events in its own database table. It only records the actions that are on in User Activity → Events. Use a smaller preset and auto-delete to keep the table small.
Who can see the log? #
Only administrators. Other users cannot open the Pastmark pages.
What happens when I deactivate or delete Pastmark? #
- Deactivate: Pastmark stops recording. Your logs and settings stay.
- Delete: your logs and settings also stay, unless you turned on Remove Data On Uninstall first. Read Delete activity logs.
Does Pastmark work on multisite? #
Yes. Each site in the network has its own log and its own settings. There is no network-wide log.
